The Federal Government over the past five decades brought this woe onto everyone's head. It has no business "owning" this many universities. A good many were universities(?) set up by poor states with the sole intention of handing them over to the Federal Government while hanging on to positions of VC and Registrar.
Okey. Well done. You've worked in the university system in America. Please which university apart from community colleges relies on government funding as it's sole source of sustenance. And this, in a rich country, where their efficient taxation system can provide such funds if need be? As you said, the Nigerian (public) university system and its funding have to be entirely reimagined. This ASUU's perennial expectation that one day, a cashstrapped and wholly inefficient government will somehow find all the money they need and actually disburse it is an exercise in FANTASY
