Asking Tinubu to quit? Like hell he's going to quit.

Tinubu might be a liar, a schemer, a dirty politician, a career criminal, but he's definitely not a fool. He understands Nigeria. He knows it's a country of 250m ignorant people driven by basal instincts of tribalism and poverty induced loyalty to corrupt individuals. This is why he's still very confident about his chances of winning.

This is the season when politicians pretend to care for the people, this is the season when they say the right words to the people to win their votes, this is the season when they make promises albeit empty, just to win votes. But Tinubu is an anomaly among the candidates running for political office in that unlike his cohorts who are busy making false promises to the electorates, Tinubu has ditched every veil of pretense and deceit that has worked so well for him for decades since he entered into politics. He lied about working at Deloitte even though he knew the company would call him out, which they did. He said he won't come to any debate until the presidential elections. The man is so cocksure he'll win the elections, he no longer pretends to care for the electorates.

At this point in the presidential race, and bereft of any capacity for robust debates and sound perspectives on the problems confronting Nigeria, all Tinubu has going for him is his popularity majorly in the southwest. His rock solid confidence is driven by three major factors working in his favor:

Tribalism: Even if Tinubu were caught with human parts on his person at Oshodi Oke at 12pm in broad daylight, he still wouldn't lost the votes of his southwest supporters. They'll vote for him no matter what. Which is why the people at Deloitte are probably having a good laugh at them right now seeing how a liar who has been exposed is still enjoying significant support from his people.

Illiteracy and Ignorance in the north: Tinubu is banking on the same votes of the Illiterate and ignorant almajiri in the north that brought Buhari into power especially having picked a muslim as his running mate. Inspite of his incompetence, Buhari still commands a strong following in the north, Tinubu is hoping this same group of ignorant supporters will vote for him, just like they voted for Buhari.

Power of Incumbency of an APC president:

I've said this before and I'll say it again, we have an individual in Aso Rock, a passionate Igbo hater who is still at war with the southeast.

Prof, given what you know about Buhari and his disdain for the Igbos, if Obi wins the election do you really believe Buhari would hand over to an Igbo man? This is the same man who in the 1980s, as military head-of-state, in the election for secretary general of OAU, voted for a fulani candidate from Niger Republic over his own candidate from Nigeria just because said candidate was Igbo.

This is another factor Tinubu must be counting on to win the elections. He believes there's no way Buhari would hand over to Obi should he win, and Buhari wouldn't want the PDP back in power if Atiku turns out to be winner. In other words Tinubu is counting on Buhari to rig the elections in his favor.

And of course one more thing you're not taking into consideration Prof as regards Tinubu and other candidates seeking election into public office: Occultism, human sacrifice, black magic.

Politicians like Tinubu, are neck deep in black magic and blood ritual not just for survival but to further their political ambitions. So why would Tinubu back down from the presidential race? He probably runs to his witch doctor from time to time, especially when it seems like he's losing his confidence due to opinions like yours asking him to quit, and it's the job of the witch doctor to keep reassuring Tinubu of his victory at the elections. After all, hasn't he offered human sacrifice and some other black magic ritual just like the witch doctor instructed him to do?

The only candidate who has been basing his campaign on issues concerning Nigeria is Peter Obi. The rest are running on bombastic statements, vague promises and unabashed tribalism. And each time they attacked his person, Obi always gives a smart response.
